Andy Lobato studied Electronic Engineering at Reading Technical College, before serving as an Apprentice at British Telecommunications for 3 years.

He then went on to become an Engineer at IDM in 1978, progressing through the Company and leaving in 1982 as Head of Research and Development.

He was employed at Environmental Equipments as Technical Manager in 1984, with responsibility for all Engineering and Production.

In September 1984, he co-founded Beran Instruments and, as Managing Director, was responsible for the acquisition of the Helitune business in
June 2000.
